His name and Nation unknown, he was already very old in 1893 when he took the unprecedented step of approaching an Englishwoman newly arrived at a mining camp on the Northern Ontario frontier and to tell her he could cure her recently discovered breast cancer. Equally unprecedented for a Native American Medicine person, he showed her how to find the eight herbs he had selected for her treatment and how to prepare the medicine.
